The standoff over the spending bill seems far from resolved.<\/b>
\nSen. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) said Monday he’s still not ready to back the $1.75 trillion spending bill proposed by fellow Democrats, but slammed progressives in his party who are refusing to vote for a $1.2 trillion infrastructure package while he makes up his mind, saying they are holding the legislation «hostage.» \u201cHolding this bill hostage is not going to work in getting my support for the reconciliation bill,\u201d Manchin said. It\u2019s not clear how long Manchin intends to take to review the spending bill, nor is it known if he objects to any specifics in the bill, which focuses on boosting funding for environmental and social programs.
