\nAdele may be the queen of breakup ballads \u2014 or at least one of the queens, alongside Taylor Swift \u2014 but on Sunday night, she helped two fans get engaged during her \u201cAdele One Night Only\u201d special, which aired on CBS. And she was really relieved it went according to plan. \u201cI need every single person to be really bloody quiet, all right?\u201d she said during the taped TV special, explaining to the audience what was about to happen and signaling that the couple was coming out. \u201cLet\u2019s turn the lights down. If you make a noise, I\u2019m gonna kill you.\u201d With the lights completely down, the couple came around the corner \u2014 the future bride-to-be wearing a blindfold and noise-cancelling headphones \u2014 to what looked like an empty area in front of L.A.\u2019s Griffith Observatory. After a tearful exchange, the engagement went off without a hitch (just the promise of one) and the lights came up to reveal Adele on stage and her celebrity friends in the audience. \u201cThank God she said yes, \u2019cause I didn\u2019t know who I was going to have to sing this song to next, you or him!\u201d the singer joked with the couple, before launching into her cover of \u201cMake You Feel My Love,\u201d which she released in 2008. \u201cOh my God, look at her, she\u2019s so in shock!\u201d You can watch the full proposal here and above. Naturally, the bride-to-be was in shock, and she thanked her boyfriend for making sure they skipped dinner beforehand. \u201cThank God you didn\u2019t let me eat, I would\u2019ve thrown up,\u201d she said. Apparently the engagement had been a long time coming, as the man thanked his fianc\u00e9e for being patient with him. She noted that she\u2019d been his girlfriend \u201cfor so long\u201d as she kept asking him to reassure her it was really happening. That shock was only compounded when she and her fianc\u00e9 sat down to watch the rest of the performance. Sitting in the front row, they were sandwiched between Lizzo and Melissa McCarthy, who quickly offered the couple a celebratory drink. Adele\u2019s \u201cOne Night Only\u201d special aired on CBS Sunday night, ahead of the singer\u2019s fourth studio album \u201c30,\u201d which arrives this Friday.
