\nThe family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount \u2014 the youngest victim who died as a result of Travis Scott\u2019s November 5 performance at Astroworld Music Festival in Houston, Texas \u2014 has rejected the rapper\u2019s offer to pay for Blount\u2019s funeral expenses. \u201c\u2018Your client\u2019s offer is declined. I have no doubt Mr. Scott feels remorse. His journey ahead will be painful. He must face and hopefully see that he bears some of the responsibility for this tragedy,\u201d Blount family\u2019s lawyer Bob Hilliard told Scott\u2019s lawyer Daniel Petrocelli in a Monday letter, obtained by Rolling Stone. Petrocelli had reortedly sent a letter to Hilliard and his co-counsel Ben Crump last Wednesday, writing, \u201cTravis is devastated by the tragedy that occurred at the Astroworld Festival and grieves for the families whose loved ones died or were injured.\u201d \u201cTravis is committed to doing his part to help the families who have suffered and begin the long process of healing in the Houston community,\u201d Petrocelli added. \u201cToward that end, Travis would like to pay for the funeral expenses for Mr. Blount\u2019s son.\u201d Watch below: Ezra Blount \u2014 who died on November 14 after being on life support for days after being trampled at Astroworld \u2014 was laid to rest on November 23 at a funeral in Texas. Blount\u2019s death had risen the Astroworld death toll to 10. In his letter to Petrocelli on Monday, Hilliard added that \u201cfor now,\u201d Scott \u201cmust respect\u201d that his own \u201cdevastation\u201d pales in comparison to that of Ezra Blount\u2019s family. Hilliard also told Rolling Stone that Scott\u2019s legal counsel had previously reached out to the Blount family in hopes of arranging an in-person meeting \u2014 but that offer was also declined. \u201cWe were pretty firm. With all due respect, no. This isn\u2019t a photo-op story here. This is a \u2018who\u2019s responsible and why\u2019 type of investigation. And he\u2019s on the short list,\u201d Hilliard said of Scott. On the day of the Astroworld tragedy, Ezra Blount was on his father\u2019s shoulders as the countdown to Scott\u2019s performance began. His father said he stayed toward the back of the crowd because he thought that area would be more calm. However, a stampede hit as soon as the rapper took the stage. The boy\u2019s father then reportedly lost consciousness and Ezra fell to the ground, where he was then trampled by concertgoers.
