Your comments, posts, and tributes have brought me more comfort than you know. None of it has gone unnoticed, in fact, it’s carried me through many nights,” Sharon, 72, wrote via Instagram on Friday, September 12, along with a video featuring the widow and her daughter, Kelly Osbourne, spending time with an owl.
“Though I’m still finding my footing, I wanted to share some glorious creatures I had the chance to spend an afternoon with,” she continued in the post. “The connection you make with these powerful birds is built entirely on trust and confidence. They’ll choose to perch on you only if they sense you are safe and unafraid of them. It’s a bond I know all too well, and the experience was nothing short of magical.”
She concluded the moving post, “I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way.”
Ozzy’s loved ones confirmed on July 22 that the rock legend died at age 76.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” read a statement from his family. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
The musician’s passing came the same month that Ozzy played his final performance with Black Sabbath — the band’s first time on stage together in 20 years. Ozzy took the stage and remained seated for the majority of his performance amid his battle with Parkinson’s disease, which he first addressed in 2020.
“You wake up the next morning and find that something else has gone wrong. You begin to think this is never going to end,” Ozzy told The Guardian in a May interview about how the illness affected his ability to walk.
Ozzy discussed his preparation for his final performance, adding, “I do weights [and] bike riding, I’ve got a guy living at my house who’s working with me. It’s tough. I’ve been laid up for such a long time. I’ve been lying on my back doing nothing and the first thing to go is your strength. It’s like starting all over again.”
Ozzy’s final show became the highest grossing charity concert of all-time, raising more than $190 million for various charities.
Sharon was by her husband’s side as he took the stage in July. The couple, who were married in 1982, shared daughters Aimee, 41, Kelly, 40, and son Jack, 39. (Ozzy was also the father of daughter Jessica, 51, and son Louis, 49, with ex-wife Thelma Riley.)
While weathering their ups and downs in the public eye, Sharon and Ozzy briefly split in 2016 after he reportedly had an affair with hairdresser Michelle Pugh. Sharon ultimately forgave Ozzy for his infidelity later that year.
“I shouldn’t speak for him. I know he wants to come on this show anyway and talk for himself to you all,” she said on The Talk, which she cohosted at the time. “He feels that he owes everyone here an apology because he’s put us all through it. He’s very embarrassed and ashamed about his conduct.”
Ozzy later called cheating on Sharon one of the most “outrageous” things he had done, telling GQ in 2020, “I regret cheating on my wife. I don’t do it anymore.”
He continued: “I got my reality check and I’m lucky she didn’t leave me. I’m not proud of that. I was pissed off with myself.
