New shows and movies are added all the time, so here are my top choices for this weekend and the week beyond, plus everything new streaming below. The first of the month always drops a big chunk of library movies, including some stone cold classics, and we have new original programming worth a look as well. This Week on Max: PCMag’s PicksIf I Had Legs I’d Kick You (Jan. 30)
This standout of last year’s Sundance festival got rave reviews, especially for Rose Byrne’s career-best performance. If I Had Legs I’d Kick You casts her as a psychotherapist taking care of a daughter with a digestive disorder that requires her to use a feeding tube. When their apartment floods, they have to relocate to a grubby motel, where things naturally take a turn for the worse.
Director: Mary Bronstein
Cast: Rose Byrne, Conan O’Brien, A$AP Rocky
Genre: Dark Comedy
Rating: R
IMDb Rating: 6.7/10The Last Captains (Feb. 2)
Life on the water is rife with challenges, and compelling docuseries The Last Captains takes you to the tiny Magdalen islands in Canada’s Gulf of St. Lawrence, where a town of 400 must struggle to survive the changing world and harsh nature. Generational families of fishermen haul in crab, scallop, and lobster, frantically trying to make quotas in wild weather and against ruthless competition.
Genre: Documentary
Rating: TV-PG
IMDb Rating: 6.0/10Madam Beja (Feb. 2)
This Brazilian telenovela, based on a true story, looks to be the kind of juicy stuff HBO’s been known for as long as it’s been a network. When the titular Madam Beja is abducted by a powerful government official and forced into years of life as his mistress, she then returns home a shamed woman, only to reclaim her power by opening a brothel and becoming wealthy and influential. It’s a remake of a super-popular 1980s show that has a ton of production budget and runs a staggering 40 episodes.
Stars: Rita Pereira, Pedro Carvalho, Gabriel Sabino
Genre: Drama
Rating: TV-MAHBO Max New Releases This Week
January 30
If I Had Legs I’d Kick You
February 1
42
2073
Aftermath
Around the World in 80 Days (1956)
Betrayed (1944)
Build for Off-Road — Season 2
Captains Courageous (1937)
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1932)
Ferdinand
Get Him to the Greek
Get Him to the Greek: Unrated
The Harvey Girls
Honky Tonk
Hop (2011)
Inconceivable
Insidious: Chapter 3
Jezebel
Just Mercy
Key Largo
King Solomon’s Mines
Kitty Foyle
Lady Be Good
Laughing Sinners
The Life of Emile Zola
Life of Pi
Lone Star
The Lost Husband
Love & Basketball
Love Happens
MacGruber
MacGruber: Unrated
Malcolm X
Marie Antoinette
Masterminds
Mildred Pierce (1945)
Mister Roberts
Mrs. Miniver
My Blind Brother
My Cousin Rachel
National Velvet
The Notebook
Now, Voyager
One Way Passage
Open Water
The Perfect Match
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Robin Hood (2010)
The Search
The Shape of Water
Silver River
The Spectacular Now
Story of Louis Pasteur
Strike Up the Band
They Were Expendable
Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo
This Modern Age
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Vacation from Marriage
Watch on the Rhine
Westbound
The Woman in Red
Wuthering Heights (1939)
The Yearling
Zola
February 2
Madam Beja — Season 1
The Last Captains — Season 1
Wardens of the North — Season 6
February 3
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way: Pillow Talk — Season 7
February 5
The Murder Tapes — Season 10

Let’s head into February with a big slate of classic movies, plus a recent A24 hit, a steamy Brazilian telenovela, and more. x has an overwhelming selection of shows and movies from its partner networks, including HBO, Discovery, Food Network, and more.
