President Donald Trump reacted to the disappearance of ‘Today’ show host Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office<\/b>
\nPresident Donald Trump is weighing in on the high-profile disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie.
\u201cI think it\u2019s terrible,\u201d Trump, 79, told reporters inside the White House Oval Office on Tuesday, February 3.
\u201cI\u2019m gonna call her later on,\u201d the president added of Savannah, 54. \u201cI think it\u2019s a terrible thing. I always got along very good with Savannah. Very unusual situation, but we\u2019re gonna find out\u2026\u201d
Earlier on Tuesday, the official White House Instagram account shared a post encouraging anyone with information into Nancy\u2019s disappearance to call 911.
\u201cThe search for Savannah Guthrie\u2019s mother, Nancy Guthrie, is ongoing, and authorities are requesting assistance from the public. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911,\u201d the post read.
The White House added, \u201cOur prayers are with the Guthrie family as we hope for Nancy\u2019s safe return home. ????\u201d
Nancy, 84, is believed to have disappeared from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, in the early hours of Sunday, February 1. She was last seen on Saturday, January 31, and was reported missing by a family member at around noon on Sunday.
On Monday, February 2, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the disappearance was being treated as a crime.
\u201cWe do in fact have a crime scene. We do in fact have a crime,\u201d Nanos said. \u201cShe did not leave on her own. We know that.\u201d
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly on Monday, Nanos added, \u201cWe don\u2019t want anybody to lose hope. But in the same sense, just as there\u2019s hope, there\u2019s also things that point to us that say, \u2018This lady\u2019s in danger.\u2019\u201d
\u201cIt does have to do with what was described to us about the scene,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing this for 50 years. When something doesn\u2019t sit well, it doesn\u2019t sit well.\u201d
Nanos said, \u201cSomething unusual at that house occurred that made us go, \u2018Wow \u2026 something\u2019s wrong here. Something doesn\u2019t fit.\u2019\u201d
Savannah was absent from Monday\u2019s episode of the Today show following her mother\u2019s disappearance, however, anchors Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin read out a statement on her behalf.
\u201cWe want to get right to what is a deeply personal story for us,\u201d Melvin, 46, said at the top of the program. \u201cNancy Guthrie, Savannah\u2019s beloved mother, has been reported missing in Arizona.\u201d
Melvin read out a statement from Savannah, which said, \u201cOn behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department at 520-351-4900.\u201d
Savannah shared an emotional Instagram post late Monday night, urging followers to pray for Nancy.
She wrote, \u201cWe believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him. Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.\u201d
\u201cBring her home,\u201d Savannah added.<\/p>\n
