The Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department shared an update on the investigation into Nancy Guthrie\u2019s disappearance in Arizona<\/b>
\nThe Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department is sharing an update on the investigation into Nancy Guthrie\u2019s disappearance.
\u201cThe FBI and Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department are aware of a new message regarding Nancy Guthrie,\u201d Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a statement via X on Friday, February 6. \u201cInvestigators are actively inspecting the information provided in the message for its authenticity.\u201d
Although authorities did not provide additional info, local news outlet 13 News claimed they received a new message regarding Nancy\u2019s disappearance and forwarded the message to law enforcement.
\u201cWhile this is one new piece of information, the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department are still asking anyone with tips to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI,\u201d Nanos\u2019 latest statement continued. \u201cThe FBI continues to offer a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie and\/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.\u201d
In recent days, Nancy\u2019s children, including Savannah, Annie and Camron Guthrie, have made videos seemingly addressing a possible ransom.
In an Instagram video posted on Wednesday, February 4, Savannah appeared alongside her siblings and addressed the reports about an alleged ransom letter in the media.
\u201cAs a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk,\u201d she said. \u201cHowever, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us.\u201d
One day later, Camron spoke out about his mom\u2019s disappearance and once again pleaded for his mom\u2019s safe return.
\u201cThis is Camron Guthrie, and I\u2019m speaking for the Guthrie family,\u201d he said in the Thursday, February 5, Instagram video. \u201cWhoever is out there holding our mother, we want to hear from you. We haven\u2019t heard anything directly. We need you to reach out, and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward. But first, we have to know if you have our mom. We want to talk to you and we are waiting for contact.\u201d
News broke on February 1 that Nancy, 84, was reported missing in Arizona. As of Friday, police had yet to name any suspects or persons of interest.
FBI Special Agent Heith Janke previously confirmed in a press conference that the FBI is aware of an alleged ransom letter sent to news outlets, noting that \u201cany action taken on any ransom is ultimately decided by the family.\u201d He also revealed that the FBI arrested an \u201cimposter\u201d trying to \u201cprofit\u201d off of the case with a separate, fake ransom note.
Janke noted that the alleged ransom note had an initial deadline of 5 p.m. on February 5, which is around the same time Camron posted his video. If that deadline was missed, the note offered Monday, February 9, as a second option.
Throughout the investigation, Savannah has asked for the public\u2019s help in locating her mom. The Today show coanchor also expressed her wishes that people join in prayer that the Guthrie family will be reunited with Nancy.
