Usain Bolt to hand in gold medal following teammate’s failed doping test

NewsHubIn the most recent 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt recorded three goal medals in three races, giving him an unbelievable nine total golds in just as many races over the span of three Olympics.
However, the winner of the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the 4×100 meters relay will be forced to surrender his 2008 Beijing 4×100 meters gold after teammate Nesta Carter, who ran the first leg in the relay, tested positive for methylhexaneamine, a banned stimulant, according to the IOC .
Jamaica had set a then world record for the fastest completion time of 37.10 seconds.
Carter was also a part of the 4×100 meters relay team in London in 2012.
With Jamaica’s automatic disqualification from the event, Trinidad and Tobago will receive the gold medal, Japan will receive the silver medal, and Brazil will receive the bronze medal.
In addition to Bolt, Jamaicans Asafa Powell and Michael Frater will lose out on a gold medal.
Bolt’s eight Olympic gold medals trail USA sprinter Carl Lewis for the most in the Olympic sprinting events (Lewis holds nine golds and a silver). Bolt , 30, has publicly announced that he will retire from sprinting following the 2017 World Championships in August.
Bolt is the world record holder in the 100 meters (9.58 seconds) and 200 meters (19.19 seconds).
