New images have been revealed that show an extremely interesting and ambitious take on the LG V30. The handset mockup shows off a sliding design that gives access to a much larger secondary display.
LG offered up quite a surprise when it first debuted its V10 handset. It was unique with its dual display and dual front-facing camera setup. With its successor, the firm made little tweaks to its V-series formula by refining the external chassis and bringing some of the better elements from its other handsets like the wide angle camera from the G5.
A few months into the new year, LG has evolved its design and technology, with its strongest offering to date with the G6. Now, all eyes are on what’s coming next. There were rumors as early as February that the upcoming successor to the V20 will offer the latest in terms of specifications, touting a Snapdragon 835 processor and 6GB RAM.
As far as the design goes, there have been rumors that the handset will arrive with a curved display, similar to what can be found on Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+. But, it looks like there could be another path. What you see above is a mockup of the LG V30 that was posted by Evan Blass. Although the image is a bit older in date, it gives us a glimpse at a design that LG was pursuing at some point for its upcoming device.
While it is uncertain if the firm is still going in this direction, the imagination for this kind of design is stellar. In the mockup, a secondary display can be revealed by sliding the primary display up. When the main display is in its home position, the secondary display is still present, only showing a bit on the bottom and acting as ticker display like what can be found on the V20 and V10. While the concept is certainly interesting, one has to wonder how well LG would be able to control the battery life of this device.
Naturally, LG might have already moved away from this idea, but it is interesting to get a peek at the potential future of the V30.
