Aug. 2 (UPI) — The Dow Jones industrial average climbed over 22,000 on Wednesday for the first time ever.
The stock market barometer closed Tuesday at an all-time closing high of 21,963 points. On Wednesday, it reached 22,000 points right away once the New York Stock Exchange opened at 9: 30 a.m.
CNBC reported that Apple, whose stock was up almost 6 percent in the premarket, helped aid the morning’s record gains.
Its the latest record mark since President Donald Trump took office in January. The index has surpassed 19,000,20,000 and 21,000 points this year.
The adminstration has touted those gains and Trump tweeted Tuesday that the Dow could soon top 22,000 for the first time in its history.
