CLEVELAND — Indians designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion was removed from Game 2 of the American League Division Series between Cleveland and the New York Yankees in the first inning with a right ankle sprain.
CLEVELAND — Indians designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion was removed from Game 2 of the American League Division Series between Cleveland and the New York Yankees in the first inning with a right ankle sprain.
Encarnacion was the runner at second base with one out, when Jay Bruce hit a soft line drive that was caught behind second base by shortstop Didi Gregorius .
Encarnacion was about 20 feet off second base, and attempted to get back to the bag, but jammed his right leg into the base and immediately fell to the ground in obvious pain. He had to be helped off the field, and appeared unable to put any weight on his right leg.
