Developer still working through other online problems
Call of Duty: WWII has dedicated servers again.
Sledgehammer Games, the developer, tweeted the announcement yesterday evening. The dedicated servers returned to all platforms alongside an update to Call of Duty: WWII ’s PC version.
STATUS UPDATE: Global Dedicated Servers are currently live on all platforms. If you experience any issues, please be as specific as possible in your replies by including connection type wired/wifi, NAT type and region. Also, please include @ATVIassist.
Dedicated server support was taken offline last week as Sledgehammer worked to manage numerous problems in the game’s online components. In a message to Call of Duty players this weekend, the studio called dedicated servers “our highest priority.”
However, Call of Duty: WWII ’s Headquarters, the game’s multiplayer lobby, still isn’t working as Sledgehammer had intended it. It is still in a single-player-only state. Headquarters was intended to be a social multiplayer space similar to the Tower in Destiny. No word on when that will be fully restored.
Call of Duty: WWII ’s online problems have delayed the launch of the game’s microtransaction system. Activision yesterday announced that the “COD Points” system, which can be bought for real money, won’t be part of the game until Nov. 21. Those who bought editions that promised COD Points bundles won’t receive them until then. COD Points are one of two currencies that unlock the game’s loot crates. The other is earned through gameplay.
