About a month ago, it was pointed out Google’s cheeseburger emoji was all wrong. The foul perverts had been placing the cheese beneath the meat for years.

While the placing of many of the elements can be debated, the cheese-on-top is absolutely non-negotiable.
At the time, Google CEO Sunday Pichai jokingly claimed fixing the American icon the company’s number one priority.

With Android 8.1, Pichai’s promise will come to fruition (via Emojipedia).
The burger fix is arguably the lesser offense Google has remedied with the forthcoming Android 8.1 release.
The beer and beers emojis no longer feature the completely non-sensical half full glasses that have froth overflowing. We’ll drink to that.
Android 8.1 is currently in developer preview with a roll out planned in the coming weeks. Nexus and Pixel users will be first in line.
However, considering almost everyone else is still waiting for Oreo, most users will be stuck with badly made cheeseburgers and poorly poured beers well into 2018.
