Star Wars Battlefront 2 developer getting roasted by Blizzard’s Starcraft II that just went free to play on PC recently. Twitter took jab at Battlefront 2.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is getting heat from the community due how the publisher handled loot boxes and microtransactions. There is so much corporate bullshit infused into this product that many have canceled their pre-orders for Battlefront 2.
The community is not the only one outraged here; Gearbox’s Randy Pitcher said that gamers do not want games as services . “Gamers aren’t interested in services, we’re interested in fun. Sometimes a service is a necessary piece of scaffolding for some types of games, but it isn’t the goal – it’s a tool. At Gearbox, I advocate GaaH – “Games as a Hobby” – as our label for the idea.”
Blizzard also took to Twitter and used Starcraft II to take jabs at EA and Star Wars tweet after tweet.
EA came out to defend its game and its shady loot boxes but the statement became the most downvoted in Reddit history. Star Wars Battlefront 2 publisher EA reportedly shut down the refund button as well.
Where the industry is hammering Battlefront 2; Thee Video Game Awards this year is going to honor “games as services.” There is a whole new category that will honor “games as services” this year.
