Fortnite Battle Royale is now home to a new time-limited 50v50 game mode, where the last team remaining becomes the victor. The free-to-play game has also blown past 30 million players.
Although the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds developer has not been too happy with Fortnite Battle Royale, Epic seems to have a mega-hit on their hands. The developer announced that the free-to-play game now has over 30 million players, with it hitting an impressive peak concurrent player count of 1.3 million.
Today the developer also unveiled a new game mode for the title. Instead of the usual 100 player conflict with one player remaining at the end, the new mode splits the entire server into two teams of 50, and the team that manages to wipe out the other becomes victorious.
There are some special rules to keep in mind when playing this mode as well, described by the developer as follows:
The game mode is live right now on all platforms, playable by selecting the 50v50 playlist while in-game. Although it is a shame that the mode will only be here for a limited time, Epic says that more events such as these are planned for the game in the future to “spice up that Battle Royale action in unique and different ways!”
