“Have you looked at Congress lately…”
Singer Joy Villa made a major splash at the 2017 Grammy Awards when she appeared in a “Make America Great Again” dress.
Since that time, she’s continued her unabashed support for President Donald Trump. And she hasn’t stopped voicing her views on the issues, either.
When Confederate monuments were coming down around the U. S., Villa opposed it.
“We should not get rid of these statues. Just because we have a statue doesn’t mean we are celebrating what happened. It commemorates a moment in history. Just like we have a 9/11 memorial. Trying to erase history is putting us backward, not forward,” Villa said on Fox News, as Independent Journal Review previously reported.
In October, she teased that she might run for Congress.
During an interview with “Fox & Friends,” Villa said:
“I’m looking at Florida, I’m looking at California, and I’m looking at New York, because these are all places I live and work and have grown up in.”
As it turns out, what was a possibility before is becoming more likely. Villa announced Wednesday she launched an exploratory committee for a congressional run in Florida.
Speaking to “Fox & Friends,” Villa announced the big news:

“Have you looked at Congress lately? In the news, we see that they are getting nothing done. They are a house of cards that is tumbling. I mean healthcare reform they couldn’t get done. Immigration they can’t get done,” Villa said. “They’re not working with the president, which means we need to put new people in, we need to vote fresh blood in.”
Villa, 31, doesn’t have any history of holding office. But in today’s political climate, there is no longer a glass ceiling that needs to shatter in order for celebrities to win elections. And she has one thing going for her already: the complete support of President Trump.
