A man who police say was kidnapped during a home invasion was fatally shot hours later, as FBI agents moved in on the home where he was held. According to Conroe police, everything began with a home invasion Wednesday night at a home in Conroe. A man, his brother and his 12-year-old son were all reportedly bound with duct tape. The father was kidnapped by the suspects. At some point during the night, the kidnappers made demands. Conroe police contacted the FBI for assistance in the case. The suspects were tracked down to a hotel in the Clear Lake area, along Bay Area Boulevard near the Gulf Freeway. Police say law enforcement then moved in on the home on Elbert Street in northeast Houston. The details of exactly what happened are not yet clear, but at least one FBI agent fired shots. The kidnapping victim was fatally injured, and pronounced dead at LBJ Hospital. The FBI says two children were inside the home when the man was killed. Family came and picked up a boy and a girl. The agency has remained tight-lipped on the entire incident.»I can’t tell you specifically why we were here, but I can tell you that it was an FBI operation,» said Christina Garza with the Houston FBI. The FBI says the agent involved in the shooting will be placed on leave pending the investigation. Houston police homicide detectives are investigating as well.
