OnePlus has launched a new Lava Red Edition of their flagship OnePlus 5T smartphone in India priced at Rs 37,999. It was previously launched in China last year and comes with a red coloured rear panel. T he device comes only in one 8GB RAM variant with 128GB of internal storage. Pre-registrations for the device have commenced on Amazon and it will be up for purchase via an open sale starting 12 PM on January 20, exclusively on the online retailer’s website.
Announcing the launch OnePlus wrote in it’s blog – “Inspired by the dynamic nature of lava with colours that change under different types of light, the radiant Lava Red color shade is achieved through accurate combination of temperature, consistency and baking time with less than 0.01% variation. Additionally, it uses two anodic oxidation processes, using double blasting and an AF coating to ensure the texture and feel. A completely redesigned wallpaper unique to this edition further enhances the user experience.”
Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India, said, “We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition. This phenomenal excitement reinforces the trust that our fans have instilled in us, making us determined to continue to bring fresh experiences. We are happy to kickstart 2018 with the much requested OnePlus 5T Lava Red edition, our first ever red smartphone, that will certainly appeal to those looking for the perfect balance of beautiful design and powerful features.”
In terms of specifications, the new variant is akin to the normal OnePlus 5T and sports a 6-inch full-HD+ Optic AMOLED screen with a taller 18:9 display aspect ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 835 platform and runs OxygenOS on top of Android 7.1 Nougat. It packs a 3300mAh battery and comes with a rear placed fingerprint sensor.
The OnePlus 5T features a revamped dual rear camera setup compared to its predecessor with 16MP+20MP sensors, just like the OnePlus 5. However, instead of optical zoom, both sensors features the same f/1.7 aperture lens and 27.22mm focal length. The company says that this configuration will allow users to capture better low light photographs and bokeh images. At the front is a 16MP camera with a f/2.0 aperture lens which also enables Face unlock on the smartphone.
