According to online posts, the lock screen on the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ wakes up randomly while charging or otherwise.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are the company’s flagship smartphones that launched in March 2017. Users of these two smartphones are reportedly facing a peculiar issue with the lock screen. According to online posts, the lock screen wakes up randomly while charging or otherwise. Some users are also reporting the same issue on the Galaxy Note 8.
According to complaints online, some users have been facing the random waking up problem since June last year. A post on the community portal of Samsung US features this complaint by a Galaxy S8+ user who claims that actions like hard reset, disabling connectivity options, and using safe mode have provided no respite from the problem. The user says that the phone wakes up randomly every 10 seconds. Numerous comments on this post confirm that the issue is present on other Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ units as well.
Another post on Reddit, submitted last month, claims that a Galaxy S8 unit has had the issue ever since the November software update. The user also mentions that the issue arises only when the phone is on the wireless charging stand; regular wired charging doesn’t wake it up randomly.
A Samsung moderator, on another community thread, requested to use techniques like soft reset to solve the issue but the response does not show any kind of resolution for the user who has reported significant battery loss overnight.
Interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has also been reported to have the same issue with one user claiming that the lock screen randomly wakes up dozens of times in a single day. There is currently no update for an official solution from Samsung.
Recently, some users had claimed that they were experiencing issues where the Galaxy Note 8 battery doesn’t charge after it reaches 0 percent. The company has since responded to the issue.
