AMD today released two new second-generation Ryzen desktop processors with what it is claiming to be “the world’s most powerful graphics on a desktop processor”. The new AMD Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G desktop processors integrate AMD’s latest Zen CPU cores with powerful Radeon Vega graphics on a single chip.
The new AMD Ryzen 5 2400G has been priced at Rs.10,990 (excluding GST) in India, while the Ryzen 3 2200G is priced at Rs.7,290 (excluding GST). These new processors replace the first-generation Ryzen 5 1400 and Ryzen 3 1200 CPUs launched last year. You should be able to purchase the two new Ryzen APUs both online as well as via all leading offline stores in the coming days.
The new Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G are AM4 socket processors, which means they are compatible with all existing AM4 motherboards. Compared to the Ryzen 5 1400 and Ryzen 3 1200 processors that they are replacing, the Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 1200 introduce a higher CPU clock speed and Radeon Vega graphics while maintaining the same TDP as well as package size. AMD claims the Radeon Vega graphics in the Ryzen 5 2400G processor delivers the same graphics performance as the NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 discrete gaming GPU. In terms of CPU performance, the new Ryzen 5 chip is said to be on par or slightly ahead of the Intel Core i5-8400, which is currently available for around Rs.15,000 in the Indian market.
Both the new Ryzen APUs use improved AMD SenseMI technology for lower power consumption at higher frequencies and reduced memory latencies. They also support Precision Boost 2, a multi-core boost algorithm that enables higher frequencies in gaming and real-world applications. Thanks to the built-in graphics, the new APUs are compatible with the Radeon FreeSync technology to deliver a smooth gameplay experience.
