Here are the many colors that we suspect Samsung’s 2018 flagship will don at launch.
Which Galaxy S9 colors will be available? Historically, you can count on a shade of black, as well as silver coming to all regions at launch.
Samsung usually announces more colors than just those two, however. It’s usually the more expressive, vibrant ones that don’t see as widespread a presence at launch. We’ve seen this happen with several generations of Samsung smartphones, including the US and UK.
If you see a color you like when one of the company’s phones is announced, there’s unfortunately a pretty good chance that it won’t be available in your region for weeks, if not months after launch. Sorry, early adopter of the Galaxy S9.
What follows are the colors options rumored to be available for the S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus when it launches in the Spring. We’ll be updating this article as more details come, from both Samsung and the rumor mill.
The S9 and S9 Plus are guaranteed to arrive day-one around the globe with the Midnight Black color variant available. While not the color that best shows off the curves of Samsung’s lush, modern smartphone, it’s a trusty option that looks good in just about any case, and works to make the Super AMOLED display really pop out.
This is another that we’re likely to see show up in most regions at the S9 launch, but not all. Unlike the Midnight Black color, we’re getting into iridescent territory with Arctic Silver. Depending on which way you hold it in the light, hints of other colors will pop into view, giving this one a more sophisticated look.
Carefully striding the line somewhere between purple and grey is Orchid Grey, one of Samsung’s more subdued and original color stylings. You’ll find this, as well as the others above in most regions.
We’re betting big on seeing it again with the S9 and S9 Plus, and we’ve seen what appears to be the Orchid Grey color option popping up in a few leaks, like the one above.

Giving it some more thought, Samsung’s Unpacked messaging shows a “9” in a hue that closely mirrors that of the leaked Lilac Purple.
Now, we’re getting into interesting territory with colors. Coral Blue will likely be announced for the S9 and S9 Plus, but it might not hit all regions at launch. For example, this color option debuted in the US for the S8 and S8 Plus in July 2017 – three months after the official launch of the phones. So, if this is on your wishlist, you might have to wait to snag an Galaxy S9 in your preferred color.
Samsung has only recently introduced this color for the S8 and S8 Plus in select regions, so the verdict is currently out if it will be a day-one launch option for the S9 and S9 Plus. Here’s to hoping that it will be in the initial roster, as even though it’ll only appeal to a select few, it’s nevertheless a fun color to offer.
Perhaps the most distinguished of the color options, Samsung’s Maple Gold variant is criminally unavailable in most regions. If availability were wider, this would make for a solid option given its creamy look, which sits happily between brown and full-on gold.
Following the official unveiling of the Samsung’s new smartphones, we’ll be updating this page with more details on which Galaxy S9 colors will be headed to the various launch regions. If there are new colors debuted at Samsung’s Unpacked 2018 event on February 25, you’ll surely see those here, too.
