“American Idol” posted an extended clip of Detroit Lions WR Marvin Jones’ audition before musical superstars Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.
When the Detroit Lions signed wide receiver Marvin Jones a couple of offseasons ago, we heard he could sing.
This past fall, we learned that Jones participated in a special taping of “American Idol” in a segment that was shown on ESPN .
Now that the reboot from Fox is coming back on ABC beginning March 11, “American Idol” posted an extended clip on Facebook of Jones’ audition before musical superstars Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.
After getting some coaching from longtime host Ryan Seacrest, Jones performed “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Tank.
The three judges seemed surprised first that Jones, an NFL player, was auditioning, and that he was good.
“I keep waiting for the PUNK’D thing to happen,” Richie said after Jones wrapped up his song.
Ah, but did he pass his audition? We’ll have to tune in to find out.
