Police say they found Joel Peloquin in a cemetery last week, threatening to kill himself.
WYOMING, Mich. — Authorities say a man who fatally shot himself in the head in a west Michigan cemetery also was shot three times by officers.
Kent County sheriff’s officials said Monday an autopsy performed on the body of 52-year-old Joel Peloquin over the weekend found the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and it was ruled a suicide. The examination found Wyoming officers shot him three times, but those wounds weren’t fatal.

Investigators say Peloquin was in the cemetery Friday, threatening to kill himself. Officers approached him and two fired as he displayed a firearm.
Police say Peloquin then shot himself and was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Authorities say three independent witnesses were at the cemetery.
Prosecutors will review the case.
