David Schwartz, the lawyer for President Donald Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen, called adult film star Stormy Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti a “PR machine.”
During an interview with AM 970 host John Catsimatidis, Schwartz said Daniels’ “60 Minutes” special wasn’t the “gold standard” usually represented by “60 Minutes.”
“[Avenetti] calls me a ‘thug,’ so he’s representing a porn star who’s trying to shake down the president, but I’m a ‘thug,’” he explained in regard to Avenetti’s “thuggish behavior” comment during the show.
Although he deemed it to be not Anderson Cooper’s “finest moment,” he admitted it was “ratings gold” and was a great move on Avenetti’s part.
“It’s complete garbage. The whole story is garbage. The whole story is nonsensical… her whole story makes no sense,” he said.
He added that Avenetti deserves credit, however, because he’s “made the best out of this story” and is a public relations “machine.”
Schwartz told Catsimatidis that Daniels ‘ story is nothing that’s been turned into something since even Daniels states she and President Donald Trump allegedly only had sex one time 12 years ago.
The attorney pointed out that many congressmen have had the same arrangements that Cohen had with Daniels, except they used taxpayer money for settlements.
“Instead, they try to make it seem like what Michael Cohen did was egregious in which he did absolutely nothing wrong,” he said. “Everything was completely legal what he did.”
Daniels’ “60 Minutes” interview drew 22 million viewers, according to The New York Times, and highlighted various aspects of her alleged sexual relationship with Trump and her agreement with Cohen.
