Will Ferrell was taken to a California hospital Thursday after the vehicle he was riding in got flipped over in a highway accident.
The actor, 50, was a passenger in an SUV traveling along I-5 in Orange County when the driver of a 2007 Toyota veered into their lane and struck the right rear of their car, causing it to “lose control, hit the center divider and overturn,” according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.
Ferrell, who was one of four people in the SUV, only sustained minor injuries. Sources said the “Anchorman” star is out of the hospital and doing well.
The highway patrol report identified a 27-year-old female in the SUV as the most seriously injured, saying she “sustained major injuries” because her seat belt wasn’t on at the time.

The woman who was injured works with Ferrell. She underwent surgery Friday but is expected to be “okay,” sources said. She was taken to a different medical facility than Ferrell.
The other two people in the SUV, including the driver, were taken to the same hospital as Ferrell after sustaining minor injuries. The Toyota’s driver — a 22-year-old male — was not hospitalized.
It’s currently unclear what caused the Toyota’s driver to go into the SUV’s lane at the time of the crash.
The Orange County Fire Authority received a call reporting the accident shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, Capt. Larry Kurtz confirmed.

Video from the scene published by TMZ, which was first to report the accident, shows Ferrell sitting upright in a stretcher and talking on his cell phone as firefighters lift him into an ambulance.
The accident occurred after Ferrell appeared at a function for the online comedy channel he co-founded, “Funny or Die,” near San Diego, according to TMZ. He reprised his classic “Anchorman” character Ron Burgundy at the event.
