Malacañang confirmed on Thursday that the Philippines has filed several diplomatic protests with China in relation to the Asian power's activities in areas claimed by Manila in the South China Sea. Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. echoed the statement of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano before the House of Representatives on Wednesday that the Philippines has filed several dozens of diplomatic protests "over the past two years." "Everything as mentioned by SFA [Cayetano]," Roque said when asked to provide details. In a separate statement, Roque said the government "will resort to all diplomatic initiatives when warranted but without fanfare." "The President, who is the chief architect of the nation’s foreign policy, will not sit on our rights and will never give away even an inch of territory," he said.
