Red Cross Emergency Response Officer Naomi Akamatsu says the heat is posing difficulties for rescue workers as they continue their search for missing people in the wake of the devastating floods that hit western Japan last week.
Japan’s National Police Agency announced at least 200 people had died in the floods, with another 50 missing.
The massive deluge of rain caused flash flooding and landslides, in what authorities say is the worst weather-related disaster in Japan in 36 years.
