Rare has released a Banjo-Kazooie figurehead tribute among a whole host of other changes for its Sea of Thieves 1.15 update.
It’s time to head back to the rocky shores of Rare’s seafaring title as the Sea of Thieves 1.15 update has gone live and, with it, a touching tribute to Banjo-Kazooie. That’s now all, however, as we’ll run down the full patch notes, plus the download size for the update, should you want to plan ahead and reach the nearest virtual port ASAP.
One of the biggest changes to the Sea of Thieves 1.15 update is the fact that Rare has actually identified a whole bunch of cheaters. Now, pirates aren’t the most trustworthy folk, but they still have a code. Anyone who’s been caught cheating has, by the sounds of it, been contacted and immediately banned. Good on you, Rare.
Elsewhere, cannonballs have received a slight overhaul with their impact now having a far greater effect. In fact, if your (or any other ship) gets hit by a cannonball, they will now apply a rocking motion. Try not to get seasick, now. I’ve just swabbed the deck.
There’s also optimization improvements, to ensure the game runs as smoothly as your sloop does on the open seas.
The big news, however, comes from an incredibly cool piece of Rare memorabilia that you’ll want to pick up. The Banjo-Kazooie figurehead has arrived in shops to mark the game’s 20th anniversary. The Bear and Bird figurehead is now being sold by the Shipwright, and will cost you 1998 gold.
Both the Xbox One and Xbox One X 1.15 update downloads are 1.86 GB, with the PC download clocking in at the slightly smaller size of 1.50 GB.
You can read the full 1.15 patch notes on the Sea of Thieves release notes page, but below is a list of some of the known issues that Rare are looking to address in future updates.
