Twitch Prime is going all out to celebrate July’s Amazon Prime Day, offering nineteen free games spread between now and Amazon Prime Day’s start on July 16.
Twitch has unveiled the July line-up of free games included with Twitch Prime and subscribers have a big surprise in store. This month Twitch is going above and beyond expectations to celebrate the arrival of the annual Amazon Prime Day sale. Between July 2 and July 17 Twitch will give out one free game a day, plus a few extra games too. That’s 19 free games in July, just for Twitch Prime subscribers.
Free games started becoming available Monday, June 2, but don’t fret because each game will be available for free across multiple days. Don’t wait too long, though, because once their availability window is up there won’t be another chance for subscribers to claim the game. Check into Twitch every one or two days to make sure nothing passes by unclaimed.
Going by Twitch’s schedule, here are the 16 daily games that will be made available between July 2 and July 17 along with their availability windows:
The final three games include Metal Slug 3, The Last Blade, and Twinkle Star Sprites and are bundled into the SNK Bundle. The SNK Bundle is currently available to claim and will remain so until August 2.
While none of the Twitch Prime games for July are major AAA releases, Twitch and Amazon have partnered with some significant and talented studios to feature some great independently published games. Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny are solid throwbacks to turn of the century western RPGs. Double Fine’s Brutal Legend and Broken Age are popular modern adventure games. And many of the other games are critically acclaimed releases from the past couple of years. There’s hopefully something of interest for all Twitch Prime subscribers.
If the Twitch Prime free games for July 2018 weren’t enough, then there’s always Amazon Prime Day itself to look forward to. Amazon Prime Day starts July 16 but will run through July 17 this year. Expect a wide array of sales including for an assortment of video games and peripherals.
One important detail that’s worth noting for Prime subscribers is that Amazon snuck in a change to the 20% discount on game pre-orders today, buried under all the Amazon Prime Day and free games news. The pre-order discount will no longer cover certain “toys to life, collector’s editions, re-releases, re-masters, and product bundles.” Amazon could be moving towards ending the 20% discount entirely, just like Best Buy did earlier this year.
Twitch Prime’s free games for July 2018 are starting to become available right now and will continue to unlock throughout the month.
