Fang-you Dontnod. A new Vampyr update is on its way later this summer that will add two new difficulty altering modes. Find the combat annoying? Try out “Story Mode”. Want the combat even harder? Try “Hard Mode”.
A new patch is now live for Vampyr, which improves performance across consoles and PC. What’s interesting, however, is that a future update is planned that will introduce a mode that tones down the combat. Dubbed “Story Mode”, the upcoming update will not only offer a new way to play with less combat, but also introduce a new “Hard Mode.” The new modes will arrive at some stage later on in the summer. We can’t wait for the new Vampyr update.
Plenty of people thought that Vampyr was a good game, but that it’s combat let it down. While the upcoming update’s “Story Mode” doesn’t cut out the combat altogether, it does put less emphasis on it. Dontnod will let us spend our time focusing on our Vampire’s story-based shenanigans. For those who enjoy the game’s combat, however, the “Story Mode” is optional. Thankfully, for those of us who have completed the game already, or who’re after a little more bite, a new Hard Mode is on the way too. Vampyr’s publisher, Focus Home, explain:
“As well as bringing a host of optimization tweaks, the upcoming update will introduce a ‘Story’ mode that de-emphasizes combat and a cranked-up, more challenging Hard mode. The Story mode places a greater focus on narrative, allowing players to experience Dr. Reid’s journey with less challenging combat. On the other end of the scale, Hard mode makes combat much more difficult. Players will receive less experience from killing enemies too, forcing them to rely even more on embracing citizens to grow in power.”
Along with the upcoming, rather large update, Vampyr was hit with a new patch yesterday, which brought with it various improvements. Specifically for the PC version, these fixes largely improve performance and fix several bugs. For example, the stash now properly indicates the quantity of items stored within.
Hopefully, the new Vampyr update launches sooner, rather than later. Focusing more on the story with less of the combat? Sounds good to us.
