Within 24 hours of Epic games announcing that its popular mobile video game titled Fortnite is coming to Android, with Samsung Galaxy Note 9 first in line to receive it, Tencent Games made a move to counter that of Epic Games’. The firm introduced a new PubG Mobile Lite beta for devices that don’t have enough power to run the regular, graphics-intensive title.
The ‘lite’ version of the popular title has debuted in the Philippines and is likely to reach other countries in future as well. For now, it is under the ‘beta’ version.
The title is designed to work on smartphones that have low RAM capacities without sacrificing on the quality. The version, like the regular title, is developed using Unreal 4 game engine. Although the developer says that the gameplay experience will stay the same, there are few changes made to optimise it with low-end handsets. The change list includes a smaller map clocking in at 2×2 km a map, which is down from 8×8 km. Also, the gameplay won’t have 100 players but a maximum of 40.
‘PUBG MOBILE LITE is here! Built with Unreal Engine 4, this version of PUBG MOBILE is compatible with even more devices and optimized for devices with less RAM without compromising the gameplay experience that has attracted millions of fans around the world. PUBG MOBILE LITE features a smaller map made for 40 players, which means a faster-paced game that still keeps the traditional PUBG style of play!’ says the Google Play Store description of the app. It is worth noting that if you are anywhere else other than the Philippines, you won’t be able to download the app.
On a related note, the game developers introduced a new website named FIX PUBG in a bid to let gamers address the bugs so they can work on it to make PuBG more stable and fair.
