Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros Ultimate-themed Nintendo Direct livestream is due to take place today. Here’s all you need to know, including how to watch live.
The latest Nintendo Direct is set to go live later today, with Nintendo teasing new information about the highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The company has confirmed that the livestream will be presented by the game’s director, Masahiro Sakurai, but what do fans have in store? And how can you tune in live? We answer all those questions and more below.
Nintendo Direct is the legendary Japanese gaming company’s way of communicating with both the press and fans. It’s namely for making news announcements for upcoming games like Pokemon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee, and more recently, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The announcements can vary, from new gameplay features to new accessory reveals and even release date announcements. Previously, Nintendo used its Direct presentations to unveil the Nintendo Switch, as well as many of its best Nintendo Switch games and best 3DS games.
While some Direct presentations offer a variety of announcements from multiple games, some Nintendo Direct livestreams are much more specific.
Nintendo has confirmed that this week’s announcement will be Super Smash Bros Ultimate-themed, and with release only months away, it’s likely that we’ll see some gameplay during the stream.
Nintendo Direct will be broadcast on 8 August 2018 at 15:00 BST, though unlike with previous streams, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed the length of the stream. We could be in for a treat!
There’s no need to stress about how to watch the Nintendo Direct live presentation because we’ve embedded the livestream at the top of this page, so come head back on Wednesday afternoon and enjoy the announcement.
If you want to watch it on other platforms, Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Direct livestream will also be available via the Nintendo Direct website, the Nintendo UK YouTube channel and the Super Smash Bros Facebook page .
