Amazon today announced a new line of Echo devices and a new Echo companion that will help make it a piece of cake to add Alexa to any room and they’re heading straight to India.
The company added three new devices to its Echo lineup today that sees a new Echo Dot with a louder speaker and updated design, an Echo Plus with an upgraded speaker, and an Echo Sub for rich bass music playback.
Most notably, the new Echo Dot sees a new fabric design that sees a look very similar to the Google Home Mini. The smallest offering for an Alex speaker, the Echo Dot sees a new curved shape that would look great in any room. The speaker is available in Charcoal, Heather Gray, and Sandstone. It also got a speaker update so now plays music even louder and allows you to connect it to your favorite speaker or home theatre system via Bluetooth or 3.5mm audio jack.
Not stopping there, Amazon updated the larger Alexa speaker and built in a new Zigbee smart hub directly into the Echo Plus. Alexa can now automatically discover compatible lights and plugs by merely saying “Alexa, discover my devices.”
Echo Plus now also includes an embedded temperature sensor, so you can set temperature-based routines using other smart home devices. Echo Plus now has a larger 3” Neodymium woofer and increased back volume for even better sound. It also features an all-new fabric design and is available in Charcoal, Heather Gray, and Sandstone.
Amazon launched a brand new device in the Alexa lineup with its first wireless Echo Subwoofer to give extra bass to your music.
You can connect the Echo Sub to compatible Echo devices to create a 1.1 or 2.1 pairing for stereo sound. Plus, with the equalizer feature, you can adjust the bass, mid-range, and treble of the pairing simply by using your voice. Just say, “Alexa, turn up the bass.”
The new Echo devices are available for pre-order on Amazon.in starting today with the Echo Dot priced at ₹ 4,499 and Echo Plus priced at ₹ 14,999 to ship starting next month. The Echo Sub will be available next year and is priced at ₹ 12,999.
In addition to the three new Alexa devices made available to India, Amazon also launched a host of other devices that will be made available in the U. S. In addition to a microwave, wall clock, and an in-car accessory, Amazon also launched the Echo Link and Echo Link Amp. While the Echo Sub won’t be available until next year in India, the subwoofer will be launching later this month for $129.99. Unlike Amazon’s other products, the Echo Link and Echo Link Amp don’t come with microphones of their own. Instead, they can be used to hook up to speakers you already own or to connect to an existing AV receiver to provide Alexa functionality. The Echo Link comes in at $199 and the 2-channel 60W Echo Link Amp ships with a price tag of $299. There isn’t a firm shipping date for the Echo Link and Echo Link Amp but Amazon hints that we should start to see the devices available towards late 2018 and early 2019.
