Commencing with Amazon’s range-topping speaker, the speaker adopts a new design that is clearly inspired by last year’s updated Echo. This is due to the new fabric-based look. Unlike the regular model, however, this new Echo Plus offers a much more powerful base and should offer a clearer sound output, although this will remain to be seen.
In addition to this, the Echo Plus once again offers a smart home hub built-in. Additionally, the new version also includes a temperature sensor. This means that owners can ask Alexa what the temperature is in an individual room. Additionally, users can ask Alexa to turn on the air conditioning or heating automatically when the room reaches a set temperature.
Moving on to the smaller Echo Dot, this also integrates new fabric covers into its design. Additionally, the online retailer claims that both overall sound quality and volumes have been boosted significantly – the new version is reportedly 70% louder. Much like the previous model, though, the new one makes use of the same four-button layout. But interestingly, Amazon has removed three microphones, leaving just four remaining.
Just like the previous-generation devices, the new Echo Dot and Echo Plus will be priced at $49.99 and $129.99 respectively. Those interested in the products can pre-order them both today, with shipments set to commence on October 11.
Amazon’s new subwoofer and amplifiers are designed more or less as accessories to existing Echo speakers. But it seems the internet giant couldn’t resist announcement some updates to these either, as it has just unveiled an updated Echo Plus and a third-generation Echo Dot.
