The new Galaxy A7 is the first Samsung phone to come with three cameras on the back.
Samsung is in a bit of a launch spree this week. After announcing the low-end Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+ earlier this week, the company has now announced the mid-range Galaxy A7. The newest Galaxy A series phone is the first Samsung phone to come with three cameras on the back. It is also the second phone to bring such a system following the Huawei P20 Pro. Samsung will reveal the Galaxy A7 and its price at an event on October in Malaysia. The company has announced, however, that it will be available in European and Asian markets this fall, which means it could come to India as well.
The Galaxy A7 brings a brand new photography experience to the Galaxy A line. The company touts a powerful triple camera setup that consists of an 8MP 120-degrees ultra wide-angle lens, a 24MP lens with f/1.7 aperture and a 5MP depth lens. The Galaxy A7 also comes with a Live Focus feature that we have seen on previous flagship Galaxy phone. The feature will allow you to control the depth of field in real-time. Samsung adds that the 24MP lens lets in more light by combining four pixels into one in low-light conditions. Additionally, the Galaxy A7 also gets an Intelligent Scene Optimiser that allows the cameras to recognise the subject and adjust colour, contrast and brightness accordingly.
The front camera on the Galaxy A7 also gets a 24MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and support for Selfie Focus, Pro Lightening Mode, AR emoji and filters. The Galaxy A7 not only boasts of an impressive triple lens system, but also comes with an attractive design as well. It sports a 6.0-inch FHD+ (1080×2220) Super AMOLED Infinity Display. The phone comes with glass on the back and a side fingerprint sensor much like the Galaxy J6+. The device will be available in four colours – blue, black gold and pink. The Galaxy A7 also supports Dolby Atmos to offer an immersive sound experience.
Powering the Galaxy A7 is a 2.2GHz octa-core processor but the nature of the chipset has not been specified and will likely vary depending on the market. Samsung is offering three memory and storage configurations – 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB. The Galaxy A7 houses a 3,300mAh battery and runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. The handset measures 159.8 x 76.8 x 7.5 mm and weighs 168 grams. Connectivity options on board include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v 5.0, USB Type-B, NFC (optional) 4G VoLTE and GPS, among others.
“Samsung is committed to delivering meaningful innovation to all consumers across the Galaxy family, no matter who they are or where they are in the world” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. “That’s why we’re excited to introduce innovative new features to the A series with the Galaxy A7, a practical but powerful device that is built to help make your everyday both convenient and extraordinary.”
