Due to the release date of Battlefield 5 being pushed back to November 20th, EA DICE offers two free items to players who log in to Battlefield 5 one week after launch.
The highly anticipated Battlefield 5 was originally supposed to be released this week on October 19th, but the game was recently delayed to November 20. EA DICE general manager, Oskar Gabrielson, shared a message with fans, thanking them for their continued support after the delay and revealing that as a token of the company’s appreciation, a small gift will be waiting for fans when the game launches next month.
As is seen in the video posted by Gabrielson, when fans log into Battlefield 5, they will immediately receive the Oscar Mike Helmet and Oscar Mike Emblem. According to an accompanying press release, the names of the items are taken from “military radio jargon used on the front lines” in World War 2. To receive these items, players will need to log into the game within the first week of its release and then the helmet and the emblem will appear in their shipments in the Armory.
Today we were going to launch #BattlefieldV, but as you know we pushed the release a month to get extra time for polish and act on all the feedback you’ve given us. You’ve been super patient with us and as a token of our appreciation, our team built a small gift. Check it out! pic.twitter.com/q1kyUtXh6c
Gabrielson explains in the video that EA DICE decided to push the release date back to November in order to “give the game some extra love” and to act on all the feedback that it received after the beta tests. Gabrielson wrote at the time that the team is “going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of [new Battlefield live service] Tides of War,” and that “[they] know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer. But we’re going to take our time to make sure we get it right.”
Many fans will agree that moving the release date of a game in order to make improvements is better than releasing a game that is sub-standard. The two free items that EA DICE is offering players also seems like good compensation for the extra month of waiting.
Battlefield V will be released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 20,2018.
