The OnePlus 6T’s price in India starts at Rs 37,999 for the base model that comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
A day after announcing the OnePlus 6T in the US, the company is now in India to launch its newest flagship in the country. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei was in New Delhi to announce that the OnePlus 6T will be available starting November 1. The smartphone brings an updated design language such as a waterdrop display and an in-display fingerprint sensor, while keeping most of the hardware similar to the OnePlus 6.
The OnePlus 6T’s price in India starts at Rs 37,999 for the base model that comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This makes it Rs 3,000 more expensive than the base variant of the OnePlus 6. Meanwhile, the 8GB + 128GB variant will be available for Rs 41,999 and the 8GB + 256GB version will retail at Rs 45,999. The OnePlus 6T has been available for pre-order on Amazon India for a while, and the device will go on sale starting November 1 on the e-commerce platform as well as OnePlus.in. The new OnePlus Bullets Type-C will cost Rs 1,490, while the new OnePlus Explorer Backpack is priced at Rs 4,990 and will be available through invitation code only.
The OnePlus 6T is more about offering a visual update over the OnePlus 6. The AMOLED display is now at 6.4-inch with FHD+ resolution. Unlike the OnePlus 6 which comes with a wide, iPhone X-like notch, the OnePlus 6T gets a tiny waterdrop notch similar to the Oppo F9 Pro and Vivo V11 Pro. The glass on the front and back is also upgraded to Gorilla Glass 6. The 6T also loses to features – a physical fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
OnePlus has instead opted for an in-display fingerprint sensor for the OnePlus 6T. The company claims this is the fastest in-display fingerprint sensor that will unlock the device in 0.34 seconds. The headphone jack has also been removed as OnePlus wanted to introduce new technologies such as better audio quality over USB Type-C port as well as a larger battery. The 6T houses a 3,700mAh battery which is 400mAh more than the OnePlus 6 and will deliver 23 per cent better battery life, OnePlus claims.
As for everything else, the OnePlus 6T is pretty identical to its predecessor. It gets the same Snapdragon 845 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM. It also comes with up to 256GB of internal storage. The cameras remain the same as well with the rear module getting a 16MP + 20MP setup with f/1.7 aperture and OIS + EIS support, and the front getting a 16MP sensor. OnePlus is touting a new Nightscape feature that uses HDR algorithm to improve low-light photography. This feature will be coming to the OnePlus 6 users via an update starting Wednesday, October 31. The Studio Light feature will also be coming to the OnePlus 6.
