“The OnePlus 6 OxygenOS Open Beta 6 brings not just Nightscape but also Studio Lighting and UI changes”
At the OnePlus 6T launch, one of the key camera features that was announced for the new smartphone was Nightscape. This feature delivers improved lowlight photos by increasing the ISO, slowing down the shutter speed, and reducing shakiness. At the launch event, the brand also announced the OnePlus 6T Nightscape feature will be coming to its other smartphone of 2018, the OnePlus 6, as well. While the public rollout of the feature is still not here, buyers can still try it out on the erstwhile flagship with a new beta build.
The OnePlus 6 OxygenOS Open Beta 6 has been released by the company, as per a new forum post. This build brings with not just Nightscape but also the new navigation gestures and the November security patch. The changelog for the new OxygenOS Open Beta 6 mentions other new features coming to the OnePlus 6, such as improved screenshot experience, tweaked UI for the About phone section, and a new Google quick search box in the launcher. On the camera front, apart from Nightscape the smartphone is getting the Studio Lighting feature and a smoother Gallery app with improved zooming gesture and magnification.
OnePlus 6 users who are already on OxygenOS Beta version will receive the build as an OTA update. If you want to try out the Nightscape and Studio Lighting features, you need to join the beta community — though it must be pointed out that beta builds are unstable and may be riddled with bugs.
The OnePlus 6 has a 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED screen with full-HD+ resolution and is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC. Buyers can choose configurations with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage; there is no provision for storage expansion. There is a 16MP + 20MP dual rear camera setup, a 16MP selfie camera, a 3,300mAh battery, and USB Type-C 2.0 connector.
