Whether you’ve spent the week with your eye on the controversies surrounding Judge Brett Kavanaugh or Kanye West, there are far more names making headlines this news cycle.
A few figures on the line up include:
The co-founder and former CEO of Death Row Records, Suge Knight, known for previously hosting a well-known roster of hip-hop artists — Tupac Shukar, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg — in the 90s, was sentenced to 28 years in prison for a manslaughter charge stemming from 2015.
Knight, however, isn’t the only disgraced celebrity who’s conviction is a topic of discussion these days.
After being sentenced to three-to-10 years in prison for sexual assault, “America’s Dad” turned convicted assailant Bill Cosby spent his first week in prison. USA TODAY reported that according to Cosby’s spokesperson and a prison spokesperson, Cosby’s in “good spirits” as of now. (RELATED: Bill Cosby’s Life In Prison Sounds Like A Breeze. Speaking of iconic staples in American society, Mattress Firm, the country’s largest retail mattress company, revealed Friday in their press release that they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Another concerned organization: Interpol. The president, Meng Hongwei, of the French-headquartered international police agency has allegedly disappeared in China, reads a media statement posted on Twitter Friday by Interpol. (RELATED: The President of Interpol Is Missing In China)
In significantly less dramatic news, Fox News reported actress/singer Bette Midler apologized on Twitter after posting in a since-deleted tweet, “Women, are the n-word of the world.” After experiencing backlash, Midler posted her apology within an hour of the previous tweet, citing her anger at “the too-brief investigation of allegations against Kavanaugh” as a reason for commenting without thinking about the implications of her turn of phrase.
Next up is actor Dean Cain of “Lois & Clark,” who responded to TMZ on Twitter, The Daily Caller reported, after they tweeted claiming Cain found Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s silence “suspicious” when really Cain would go on to mention that he just didn’t think anyone could “prove it was Kavanaugh.”
Someone else claiming ownership of their behavior: “Jersey Shore” reality TV star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is heading to prison for eight months after he pled guilty to tax evasion at the start of the year, TMZ reported.
Now, to someone who will probably never stop being theatric. Rapper Kanye West’s buzzworthy pro-Trump appearance on Saturday Night Live, in which he donned a “Make America Great Again” cap, was apparently cut short by NBC.
Lastly, alongside other anti-Kavanaugh protestors, comedian Amy Schumer and model Emily Ratajkowski were arrested Thursday after demonstrating in Senate office buildings, The Daily Caller reported. What makes it interesting? When a police officer asked if they wanted to be arrested, they replied, “Yes.”
Naturally, this list doesn’t cover every crazy and interesting thing that happened in the last week. What do you think should have made it? Let us know in the comments.
