Streaming entertainment is bigger than ever, and with so many streaming services adding new shows and movies every week, it can be nearly impossible to sort through the good and the bad. If you need something to watch and don’t want to wade through the digital muck that washes up on the internet’s shores, follow our picks below for the best new shows and movies to stream on Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Amazon, and other services.
On the list this week: A British comedy, a deadly game of cat and mouse, and more.
It’s a tale as old as time — a charming criminal and a zealous investigator chase one another, with each trying to uncover the other’s identity first. In Killing Eve, the criminal is Villanelle (Jodie Comer), a psychopathic assassin leaving a trail of bodies across Europe. Hunting her is Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh), a British intelligence agent whose superiors don’t believe her theory that the assassin is a woman. Eve and Villanelle pursue each other, possessed by mutual obsession. Killing Eve is a fascinating game of cat and mouse, built around a pair of complicated, memorable characters. It helps that the show is developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, whose previous works (such as Fleabag) are rich in psychological complexity.
