Above all, New Years Eve in New York City is usually a thing of tradition. Outings here during this time of year often fall into one of two categories. On one end is the tried-and-true ball drop viewing party, which can take place either in close proximity to the physical Times Square event or in a dingy Brooklyn dive bar. On the other is a constant shuffling from one nondescript house party to another, without even the pretense of the ceremonial countdown holding anyone to a particular location. In either scenario, one thing is almost universally left wanting: good music.
While you’d be hard pressed to find venues that feature live bands anywhere on New Years Eve—the musicians are more likely to be found in the crowd or at the bar—a good lineup of DJs can improve your evening drastically. Fortunately, this is a commodity that the city will always produce a healthy supply of.
