The deferred prosecution deal offered to Kraft is unusual in that it would have required him to admit that he would have been found guilty in a trial.
On Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that prosecutors in Palm Beach County, Fla. had offered New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and other “Johns” in the wide-ranging prostitution and human trafficking case a deal that would lead to charges being dropped.
It was unclear at the time of the WSJ report whether Kraft would be open to accepting the deal, and now there’s another report that says he isn’t.
The deferred prosecution deal offered to Kraft and others is a bit unusual in that it requires those charged to review the evidence in the case and agree that if it went to trial, he would be found guilty of solicitation.
ESPN investigative reporter T. J. Quinn tweeted on Tuesday night that admitting guilt is “a non-starter” for Kraft.
