Facebook unintentionally uploaded email contacts of 1.5 million users without consent

We found that in some cases people’s email contacts were also unintentionally uploaded to Facebook when they created their account, a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement.
Facebook is in a mess -again! Earlier this month, a report suggested that Facebook was asking some users for their email passwords when they signed in on its platform. And now, less than a month later Facebook has admitted that it unintentionally collected the email contacts of nearly 1.5 million users without their consent.
According to a report by the Business Insider, the social media giant has collected the email contacts of 1.5 million users since 2016 and uploaded them on to its servers without their permission or exclusive consent.
The report comes after a Twitter user who goes by the name e-sushi on the micro-blogging platform pointed out that Facebook was asking some users for their email password in lieu of verifying their accounts for sign in.
