Starting May 13, Samsung is now the first of several TV makers to add AirPlay 2, the Apple TV app, and iTunes access to its full lineup of 2019 TVs, as well as select 2018 models.
It’s the first step in Apple’s new strategy to open up what was once its exclusive domain and bring AirPlay 2 to a wide selection of smart TVs. In the case of Samsung’s smart TVs, Apple’s sudden warm embrace of TV manufacturers (even ones that compete heavily with it in other categories), extends to the company’s revamped Apple TV App viewing experience, which it will be rolling out later in 2019.
