Apple puts on its annual developer conference in California to showcase new software, software updates, and – sometimes – technologies that developers can leverage in order to make their apps more innovative and up to date.
Called the Worldwide Developers Conference or “dub, dub, dee, cee” for short, it might be geared toward developers, but Apple is very much talking to consumers at the same time, allowing them a glimpse as to what their phone, tablet, watch, TV, or laptop will be able to do in the months ahead.
And we aren’t over exaggerating those potential announcements. In 2018,Apple debuted iOS 12, MacOS Mojave, ARKit 2, WatchOS 5, and Siri Shortcut. The year before, the company introduced the HomePod and a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro. So, hardware could be on cards, too. Apple’s WWDC 2019 conference takes places in San Jose, California from Monday 3 June to Friday 7 June at the McEnery Convention Center with the Apple keynote starting on Monday 10am PT (on 3 June). It usually lasts between 1- 2 hours with the company covering a lot of ground.

The WWDC keynote is usually available to watch online through the dedicated Apple site or the WWDC app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. You’ll also be able to watch the livestream of the keynote online via the Safari, Chrome, and Firefox desktop browsers. It’ll likely be a two-hour event. Once it has concluded, Apple normally lets you watch it afterwards. Apple is expected to reveal the next version of iOS, iOS 13.
New features expected include “Dark mode” which will allow users to opt for a dark theme over the current “light mode” that has been standard since the launch of iOS in 2007.
Apple is also expected to announce a redesigned Home screen for both iPhone and iPad, as well as, new versions of Reminders, Maps, Messages, Mail, and new iPad features that will focus on allowing multiple windows to continue to bridge the gap between the laptop and the tablet.
