Umbral Engrams are new to Destiny 2 with the Season of Arrivals, and they work a bit differently than other engrams. By using Umbral Focusing at the Prismatic Recaster, you can influence what type of Umbral Engram you get. Every kind of Umbral Engram has a different list of gear it can drop, which can be a pain to keep track of.

You’ll likely get an Umbral Engram during the initial Season of Arrivals questline. After you get back to The Tower, you’ll probably skip over to the cryptarch or Tess to check out your new goodies only to find that the Umbral Engram isn’t anywhere to be seen.
