Sterling Heights — An estimated 6,000 people shut down Hall Road for a march following the death of George Floyd at the hands of police.
The protest kicked off on Hall Road near Lakeside Mall and is moving along the roadway where everyone gathered near the Wayne State building by Macomb Community College’s campus on Garfield Road in Clinton Township.
The march appeared to be peaceful. Some of the protesters came armed and wearing tactical gear. A group of Shelby Township police officers staged in riot gear alongside armored vehicles at Garfield.
Protesters stopped for comments along Hall Road from the three teen girls who organized the protest via social media. Then everyone took a knee in the road and held a moment of silence for Floyd.
