Mink at a farm in Michigan tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 in humans. While this is not the first case of the virus identified in mink in the United States, it is the first time it has been confirmed among Michigan’s farmed mink population, the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development announced Friday. After several mink exhibited signs of illness and died on the farm, the owner of the unidentified farm submitted samples for diagnosis.
