Massachusetts voters have already cast more than 800,000 early and mail-in ballots in this year’s presidential election that’s expected to bring record turnout, the state’s chief elections officer said.
Massachusetts voters have already cast more than 800,000 early and mail-in ballots in this year’s presidential election that’s expected to bring record turnout, the state’s chief elections officer said. At the close of the third day of voting on Monday,809,240 early and mail-in ballots had been returned, Secretary of State William Galvin’s office confirmed. Altogether,1,856,471 ballots have been provided either in person or by mail — a number that’s growing every day, officials said. Lexington has logged the highest voter turnout so far, where just under 40% of registered voters have already cast their ballots. Voter turnout stands at 17% statewide. In Boston,34,897 of the city’s 420,264 registered voters have returned their ballots.
