The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 4,406 new cases of the coronavirus on Saturday, Jan.2, increasing the cumulative total in the county to 161,589 cases since tracking began. There were 26 deaths reported by the county on Saturday, raising the total number of reported deaths to 1,901. The most recent death recorded was on Dec.26. The county also reported 2,097 patients in local hospitals with the coronavirus on Saturday. That is a decrease of 31 patients from Thursday’s report. The county did not update the figures on Friday, Jan.1, those figures are reflected here, and will not update on Sunday, Jan.3, due to scheduled maintenance with the California Department of Public Health.
